6 Easy Ways to Speed up Blogger blog In 2022

Your blog is loading too slow and losing visitors if it takes more than three seconds to load. Every second matter! A useful tool to utilize to determine how quickly or slowly your site loads is Google's PageSpeed Insights.

Your blog has just a few seconds to make a great first impression.

Google has stated that starting in mid-June 2021, it would start using core web essentials as ranking factors. This implies that a ranking criteria will be website speed. Therefore, in order to keep or increase search engine ranks, we should concentrate on website speed.

In this article, I will be sharing with you some proven tips on how to improve your Blogger blog loading speed.

Stay with me even as I walk you through the journey of giving your Blogger blog a user friendly speedy page loading.

1. Limit the Use of Custom Fonts

Custom fonts are lovely and give your blog design a unique style, but if you discover that they make it take (your blog) too long to load, remove or reduce them. Custom fonts can be large files and take a while to load, just like images.

It's recommended to only sometimes apply custom fonts, such as for your blog's header and post titles.

You should use no more than three to four custom fonts at a time on your blog. Any more will merely cause your blog to lag.

2. Compress Images

The blog's media files should be small and portable. Before uploading the image, you might think about compressing it. The Blogger blog's speed will be significantly increased by using this technique.

Use tools like TinyPNG or Compressor.io to compress images. The image quality for the web is unaltered by this compressor.

You can compress your images by following these simple steps:

  • To upload your image, go to the TinyPNG website and select the "Drop your.png or.jpg files here" tab.

  • Select the desired image from your computer, then upload it.
  • Your image should begin to be compressed right away by TinyPNG.

  • Choose the "download" option to save your image from TinyPNG to your PC after the compression process is complete.

3. Minimize the Number of Posts on the Front Home Page of Your Blog

Your blog will take longer to load the more posts you display on the home page. No more than 10 posts should be visible on the front page, in my opinion. However, it would be advisable to display even fewer posts if your posts are lengthy and/or feature numerous images.

You can achieve that by doing the steps below:

  • In your admin dashboard navigate to "Settings" > scroll down and locate the "Posts" section >

  • click on "Max posts shown on main page" to alter the amount of posts that are displayed on your home page.

  • Then click on "Save". When you visit your blog, it will only display the number of posts that you have chosen to display.

4. Minimize the number of HTML/JavaScript Gadgets

To further enhance your blog, you can add your own HTML/JavaScript gadgets, but be careful not to add too many since this can cause your site to load slowly. If you do decide to use them, it is ideal to put them at the bottom of the sidebar or blog so that your users can still read your content while the javascripts are loading. Your blog loads from the top down.

See example in the image below:

5. Remove Unnecessary Widgets

Let's say your Blogger blog has a lot of widgets. You should get rid of any useless or unneeded widgets. As an illustration, some websites have Facebook page widgets. The Facebook Page widget, however, slows down Blogger's blog. As a result, we suggest that you take out this widget.

Let's say you use a blog widget from a third party. Then, to prevent render-blocking and speed up the Blogger blog, try adding such widgets to the footer section of your blog

6. Install a Fast SEO Template for Your Blogger blog

The Blogger template offers a distinctive layout for the site that improves both user experience and SEO. However, not all templates are the same. Some are only well-designed or SEO- or search engine-optimized. Along with these two requirements, the template must load quickly. Therefore, before implementing any theme you should examine the themes for the criteria below;
  • SEO of the theme e.g. HTML5 and Schema Markup support
  • Speed of the Template
  • UI(User Interface) and UX(User Experience).
I will recommend you to install the Feedify Blogger Template, as it is the template I am currently using for my Blogger blog. With my experience of it I can testify to you that  it has a good UI(User Interface) and the features listed above.
You can search and download this template for free on gooyaabi templates.

And it's a wrap!
